We are the fundraising arm of Benson Park.
FoBP Inc. is an independent non-profit charitable trust dedicated to supporting Benson Park.
The Benson Park Advisory Committee of the Town of Hudson, NH was created to convert the site of the former Benson's Wild Animal Farm of Hudson, New Hampshire into a passive recreational park that all residents of New Hampshire may enjoy.
Among other things, the Friends of Benson Park, Inc., web site has the history of New Hampshire's only zoo from the founder Mr. John T. Benson through the latest owner, Mr. Arthur J. Provencher.
The Friends of Benson Park, Inc. purchased the Benson's Wild Animal Farm Memorabilia on February 21, 2012 with all legal rights to the name, logo and other materials in the collection from Mr Provencher for a museum.
The Citizens of Hudson, NH voted (1837 to 434) on March 13, 2012 to give the Friends of Benson Park, Inc. a 50 year lease for the Elephant Barn to be used as the Benson's Wild Animal Farm Museum on Benson Park.
On April 30, 2012 the Internal Revenue Service having reviewed our application for tax exempt status and has determined that the Friends of Benson Park, Inc. is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are a Public Charity under section 170 of the Code, 170 (b) (1) (A) (vi).
Three history books have been written on Benson's Wild Animal Farm. "Remembering Benson's Wild Animal Farm" (1998) and "Benson's Wild Animal Farm" (Feb. 2011) by Bob Goldsack from Nashua, NH with another "Benson's Wild Animal Farm" (May 2010) by Lynne Ober from Hudson, NH.
The board of the Friends of Benson Park, Inc., meets once each month to discuss various issues in funding and upkeep for the park.
Many historical buildings are being renovated, including the gorilla cage has a mural, the elephant barn is becoming a museum with gift shop, and the shoe has been restored.
Come check out the park, it is becoming more beautiful every day. Please, consider becoming a member or volunteering as part of park maintenance as the park is a work-in-progress.
Benson Park is one of the largest parks in New England at 165+ acres with 9/11 Memorial, a playground, historical buildings, trails, ponds and lakes, picnic areas and beautiful landscapes for visitors. It also has the American Chestnut Tree planted within the park.
